Community outreach is critical to SBCSC and its mission to properly administer and provide equal access to justice. SBCSC prides itself on our commitment to public services and our community. Through significant volunteer efforts on the part of our judicial officers, staff members, and our justice partners, SBCSC strives to engage constituents both in and out of the courtroom. The Community Outreach Committee―comprised of twelve judges, two deputy court executive officers, and three staff members―coordinates various outreach efforts to help educate the public―of all ages, and all background and professions― to better understand the role of the court and the judicial system as a whole. In 2018, SBCSC hosted numerous programs for a variety of school-aged children, to promote dialogue on civics, judicial roles, and encourage youth to serve as leaders in our community. SBCSC hosts similar programs for adult audiences such as

SPEAKING PROGRAMS & COURTHOUSE TOURS

Court Administration provides organized tours of courthouses across the county, including speaking

engagements with judicial officers, and observations of court hearings in-session.

As part of the program, SBCSC offers school-aged children and adult audiences an opportunity to interact personally with judicial officers and learn about the role of a judge, civics, encourage leadership in our youth, and answer related questions.
